We are delighted to share the exciting news that we have recently custom built a sensory room in our nursery garden, creating a calm, nurturing space designed to support every child’s individual needs.
The sensory room has been thoughtfully developed to support children with additional learning and support needs, as well as those who may be new to settling into the nursery environment. This quiet, enclosed space provides a gentle introduction to learning, helping children feel safe, relaxed, and confident as they explore new experiences.
Equipped with a range of carefully chosen sensory resources, the room encourages hands-on exploration, fine motor development, and focused play. The soft lighting, tactile materials, and interactive equipment allow children to engage at their own pace, supporting concentration and emotional regulation.
We also use the sensory room for focused work with smaller groups of children, where they can benefit from reduced distractions and more individualised support from our team. This has proven especially valuable for activities that require calm attention, communication, and problem-solving.
Both the children and our team have thoroughly enjoyed using this new quiet space, and it has already become a much-loved part of our daily routine. Seeing the children feel comfortable, engaged, and confident in the sensory room has reinforced just how important inclusive, adaptable environments are in early years settings.
We are incredibly proud of this new addition to our nursery garden and look forward to continuing to develop spaces that support every child to thrive.
