We are pleased to announce that our nursery has officially signed up to the Big Brush Club, a government-backed, NHS-funded supervised toothbrushing programme designed to improve children’s oral health from an early age.
Our Preschool 2 children are now taking part in the programme as part of their daily nursery routine, helping them to develop positive, lifelong habits around caring for their teeth. Importantly, the scheme is completely free to parents, with all resources and support fully funded by the NHS.
The Big Brush Club has been introduced into our setting with guidance and support from the programme’s trained facilitators, ensuring the toothbrushing routine is quick, effective, and age-appropriate. Brushing at nursery does not replace brushing at home, but instead supports and reinforces a regular routine and correct brushing technique using fluoride toothpaste.
Tooth decay is one of the most common, yet preventable, childhood health issues. Nationally, many children miss school each year due to dental pain or treatment, which can impact their wellbeing, confidence, and ability to learn. By taking part in the Big Brush Club, we are helping to reduce these risks and supporting children’s overall health and development.
The programme is already used by hundreds of nurseries, pre-schools, and schools across the region and is supported by health professionals, local authorities, and national campaigns promoting better oral health for children.
We are proud to be part of the Big Brush Club and to offer this valuable opportunity to our children. The team has embraced the programme, and the children have responded positively, enjoying brushing together as part of their daily routine.
